Hello everybody and welcome back to me, because I've been on 5 days vocation...

Unfortunately, I see straight away that some things got out of control while i was away, like this "Password in 24 hours" thing.

To keep it short: Strong Sound did that because he wanted to share more exclusive stuff and he didn't want other people to leech it and spread his releases on other sites or in comments/mirrors.

so, it's actually not a bad thing, which he was forced to come to, because i wasn't able to handle the mirrors problem properly.

And now I'd like to announce my decision regarding the Mirrors poll:
As usual, I wanted to make everybody happy, so i decided to provide contributors with an option to disable mirrors module in their posts.

This way, Contributors who spent money to buy and share exclusive stuff (like DISCOVER), will be able to disable mirrors in their posts;
Option will be also used by those Contributors, who want to reupload their links by themselves.

Those Contributors who don't want to reupload their posts, will leave the Mirrors option untouched, so members+ will still be able to post mirrors.

As result, we all get what we wanted.

P.S. Contributors will receive a letter with updates and instructions.

next day UPD:
I'm surprised so many members, and even residents gone straight to comment crap, instead of reading the article completely and understand what's actually happening.

to prevent the "broken telephone" thing, I'm explaining the change in detail and replying some comments.

How about the poll?
It is exactly because of your votes I do not disable mirrors for all contributors. people who say "you don't count our opinion" are full of shit;
- When you saying that, it seems that you're not even using this site, just coming here to drop a load of crap in comments and spread your hate.

1. Mirrors on AudioZ are needed because original links might die;
2. If Contributors will keep their links alive, there is no need for Mirrors;
3. Since we give the option to disable mirrors to some contributors, they are taking the responsibility to reupload their links to mirrors that you choose.

- now, out of interest, go read comments from rico88 (1st page) just to see how reckless people can get.

the situation is very straightforward: either I do something about mirrors, or contributors will stop posting those exclusive releases at all.

...AudioZ stays on top for all this time exactly because we can adapt to changes and move forward.

I need Mirrors!
- No you don't! Once I make the changes, every contributor who disables mirrors will be forced to upload to certain "most popular" servers which you will choose later, so that even free users could download.
...and those mirrors will stay fresh forever.

do i still have to wait for Password in 24 hours?
- of course not! that shit only happened because i was away and couldn't control the site.

<!--QuoteEBegin-->You do know that $trong $ound uploads exclusively to premium sites, meaning you don't really get it for free. You have to buy a premium account. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, as long as you have a premium account on one of the sites he/she uses.

as i said, that's not gonna happen. we will force them to upload the way people can get it for free.

<!--QuoteEBegin-->Maybe SAINT gets a cut ($$$) from the uploaders, that could be an answer as well. There could be many answers I suppose. It does seem to come down to the fact the poll did not matter and SAINT chose to disregard the results

yet another pointless comment from a person who doesn't see the whole picture.

good luck finding those exclusive releases made specially for AudioZ, on your P2P or elsewhere. even the scene teams leeching releases from us now.

and since you're so confident, i guess you won't be missing your Resident status.

to everybody else who haven't noticed, AudioZ became much more than just a software archive.

I see Future AudioZ as a platform for sharing your own releases. And that's where I'm heading.

<!--QuoteEBegin-->1. as suggested in another post, boycott Strong Sound

although this sounds really brave and stuff, i seriously doubt any of you would see a new hot release from SS and say "no way, i'm not downloading his links"... that is such a rofl....

<!--QuoteEBegin-->As I said a few days ago in a thread that disappeared, he explicitly chose to make AudioZ into a (very public) market where Contributors can come and make money out out of pirated software

that's not true.

and i'm not some kind of a businessman who makes some business models for AudioZ or anything.\
the time ratio i've spent on this site will never be paid enough with money.
you will think whatever you want, but AudioZ is not a commercial web-site and I'm not making for a living on it.

...can't stop wondering why some people saying stuff like if they know it

<!--QuoteEBegin-->I know I'm just a lowly leecher here and most of you will probably ignore me anyway, but why should Strong Sound get a special treatment from SAiNT while there are number of audio scene groups and contributors that does it free for the benefit of the warez community?

they are all special to me;
yet there are no special treatment to anybody in person, rules apply the same way to everyone.

<!--QuoteEBegin-->Well, as someone said the poll results have been disregarded no matter how convincing they were. All my respect to Saint and his hard work over the years to keep Audioz running, but I'm afraid this isn't a good decision

it is actually the only right decision which meets the needs of all users.

fair enough and just like i requested it :) as long as the hosters are good its ok.
for example Disco - he has lots of good hosters and the stuff stays long online.

well ok we will see how the new system will work. i also waited 24 hours - well but i think uploaders should also think a bit more on the free users and not to upload files unsplited that we cant download it. sure we can buy a premium account but with that hoster dying im not doing that anymore.

just a hint to the uploaders do not leak all releases from one company at once. split it up for 4 weeks or more. this will kill the companies.

Waiting 24hrs is dumb first off... but secondly, many of the posts are multiple days up to a week and the password is still not listed.. Thats just turning into a waste of peoples time and bandwidth. I understand what your trying to do, but think of what this community is first off. Just my opinion.

very helpfull @SAiNT for those who writes comments arround the posts and screaming like a little girl without having her lollipop right now! rofl
a simple THANKS is the best for the uploader and for continue to post new things!
the problem is many of the new downloaders maniacs dodnt understand how sharing works because they didnt used in the past slow conections or old p2p networks.... i mean what if all of us wanted to download something and it takes 3 days or 1 week to finish, like before 12-14years??? would you care then for 24hours pass?!
just say "THANKS" when you download something new that you liked if you want to see new working/proper releases IN THE FUTURE... phones

Not fair to those who have premium membership to host sites. Most of us have a 30 day subscripition. Waiting a day is WASTING time and money. That's the whole point for getting a premium membership to save time. This is not a good idea..PLEASE RE-THINK.. dunno damn

To be honest I don't find it fair to say "We want mirrors" if Contributors don't want mirrors !

We should be grateful for what they do ! And if they want to "gain" money with it, what's the problem ??? Anyway they don't really make money, they just get back the money they spent to buy the stuff they share !
I hear people saying "It's bad to make money with warez", first it's not really making money, and then, to people who says that : How much stuff YOU already shared ?? dunno
(Some of them really believe in this, and really share for free, thanks to them too, I'm not talking about you)

And this way we would be more blessed because they would buy more stuff and of course share more stuff too !

I can't believe so much people voted "Yes we want mirrors", of course I use mirrors too, but if Contributors say they don't and they will take care to reupload everything, what's the problem ????

I would prefer this than this crappy "24h password" !!!!!

Thanks to all Contributors, SAiNT and all comprehensive people. mates

I don't understand why there was a poll in the first place if you were just going to completely disregard the results. There were 2 different polls done. 9 out of every 10 people believed that mirrors made this site better. And that wasn't good enough for you? I see now how little our opinions mean.
What you allow is what will continue

Never really saw these pools myself, and for the same reason I didnt vote!

I dont know why those pools has been overruled, but I have a theory:

Maybe SAiNT desided to support uploaders from leechers, so this site can be an interesting place to visit in the future! Who knows?

That's fine if Saint decided to back the uploaders over everyone else, but like vin-e said, why have a poll in the first place? Why make it seem like a democracy when it isn't?
Either way I'll back Saint's decision, it's his site.

Maybe SAINT gets a cut ($$$) from the uploaders, that could be an answer as well. There could be many answers I suppose. It does seem to come down to the fact the poll did not matter and SAINT chose to disregard the results. In my opinion that's unfortunate; it makes AudioZ less than what it once was. Less relevant, less fair, less democratic, and most importantly of all less fun.

There are always options though. You can get your downloads from somewhere else (let's face it there are many other places to find links and torrent files), or you can choose to ignore posts by some uploaders (like Strong Sound) who do things in a way that you may or may not like. You could even post mirrors in a comment -- I don't think the uploaders have the ability to censor the comments -- SAINT didn't give them that yet, though I suppose given his ignoring the poll that could be next.

I'm disappointed. AudioZ and SAINT went down several notches today. Id say SAINT even lost my respect. But the people that come here have power no matter what, and there are alot of ways to deal with it, express yourself, and demonstrate that it's not only the uploaders voices that matter. There are always ways to disrupt when people act in a way that says they don't care about you. Think about it. And act!

Great decision. I only hope that it pisses off the opportunists as much as it makes me happy. I am fully on the side of the contributors on this one, as with Saint. Well done.

its a good idea

I think the forum should be lead by the "contributors"
and less by the:

"---people who have started to expect everything FREE---"
posts like:
==different hoster links please
==mac please
==different size please
==separate parts please
==different thing please
----from people who have started to expect everything FREE -----

we are all a little guilty of it but sometimes that is all people post.
if people are that desperate they will find a way to get the thing.
maybe they will have to pay a small amount for a hoster lol??

1 what's to stop people mirroring in the comments (putting the AZ site at risk?)
2 what's to stop people posting on really stupid 'survey type download links'?
3 what if 2 people buy it (but cant duplicate post)

Do people really respect the up-loaders in anyway?

it involves time effort and expense to upload.

i still think members should have to upload or mirror 1 thing. it would encourage empathy for how tricky it is.

google
it involves time effort and expense to upload.

Correct. But why do people need compensation for it? I've supplied 2000e worth of stuff over the last year to a team. I get my name in the .nfo file (usually) and that's it. I've not gotten back one cent from my contributions, and that's the way it's supposed to be. For someone to game the system so he/she makes a profit is what most of us that are way past our teen years are complaining about. It's hurting the *real* scene, and is the reason some groups are calling it quits. Eventually you'll be reduced to downloading loops, as that's all that will be available.

all this is basically bullshit...

the uploaders steal from the developer then moan that people are stealing from them to make mirrors...

mirrors help the community...

I think people like DISCOVER are doing a brilliant service to us leechers but at the end of the day he's still making money, if you think he isnt then you are soooo niave!

@satan213

well, this is what you get at the end of the line. I think my first, or one of my first experiences with file sharing was through a site called Sharereactor a million years ago :) Sharereactor was huge in its day, and then got shut down by the authorities. Back then, if Sharereactor mods caught anyone trying to make money off of warez they got banned -- even if someone reported you doing something on a completely un-related website, they still banned you. You got something through Sharereactor and then tried to make $$$ off of it somewhere else, you were toast and banned for life.

This is the end of the scene though. The major groups are gone, one site after another shut down, the U.S. invading any country it feels like if they think file sharing is involved, and on. This summer starts a new program where MPAA and RIAA can report to any U.S. ISP, and the ISP's have agreed to act against you if you're even suspected of file sharing. They don't need proof, just a "suspicion". Eventually they can shut down your internet connection altogether. I was reading an article the other day that was debating whether or not VPN's will soon become illegal. My guess, they probably will get shut down in time. And if the U.S. does it, lets face it, many other countries will follow.

So what's left? Well, you get guys like Strong Sound, grubby greedy types, that argue over pennies and behave in a manner where all that counts is what they can take out of the little that remains. You have rubble, and the slime that picks from the rubble and tries to call it 'earning a living'. Let's face it, if the scene was more active, and there was more to go around you wouldn't see this type of grubby, greedy behavior. Anyone that thinks guys like Strong Sound do this out of love or a desire to share are just being stupid. This is what happens when you get close to the end of the line. People arguing over the scraps that are left over from a once vibrant warez scene. And the fools that support that behavior because they get something for free -- without ever stopping to think that they could keep getting something for free year after year if they treat the system with greater respect.

Sure, some people are happy to just get the free stuff, and so they don't care what the motivation is of those that put up a link. That's fair enough. But those that feel that way don't understand that the file sharing system is withering away, and can't be sustained on this basis. That's why guys like Strong Sound are playing these games to begin with; there's just not enough left to go around. Once vultures can't find anything left to eat, they start eating their own. You can either wake up, or raise your glasses in a toast on the day it all finally dies. That day is getting closer and closer. I'm content; I've gotten plenty over the past 14, 15 years. I'd be even happier if people could keep being happy like that 15 years in the future. But it won't happen with this kind of behavior, cause the system can no longer sustain itself on this basis.

The polls were treated as expected, as if they didn't happen. I don't know why people are surprised.

This is SAiNT's place, he can do whatever he wants with it.

As I said a few days ago in a thread that disappeared, he explicitly chose to make AudioZ into a (very public) market where Contributors can come and make money out out of pirated software, sound libraries and tutorials.
AudioZ is here to offer Contributors the real content : the downloaders.

If anyone disapproves SAiNT's business model, then just leave : no one forces you to be here.

But if you stay here, don't whine.

for me its simple: now i can take a break from downloading this sample crap i dont need anyway. the audioscene is down at the moment and good releases aren't here.

i simply was like every other leecher here and download that crap anyway because i could. now i see my time is to expensive to download and wait for pass etc. and the biggest thing that stops me now is that one contributer (whats that? a new term from the scene? LOL) here steal from the developers and then he even dont want a few mirrors? LOL

i dont need that stuff. what about that $trong$ound: buy some really expensive stuff and not that crap from small companys you tryin to make money of. maybe in some way i can take you serious then. but guess what? this will never happen! :D

how simple life can be. back to soccer.

PS. this is my opinion and since i dont download from $trong$ound i can say that. i hope that other members here respect that fact! it's not a debate. download that crap and be happy. i dont care. :)

Since I'm trying to be as much neutral as I could in this case, I think that several things should not be overlooked.

funtime proclaimed, that he/she was warned when he delays his/her password while Strong Sound did that more than once. He/she actually said that he/she got an e-mail from administrators that it is against the rules

So why funtime cannot delay the password when SS can? (assuming equality of all members on this site)

It's the same with the poll. 91% including me answered "Yes, always" while only 9% said that they prefer only original links. However the 'uploaders monopoly' still remain if the uploader forbids any mirrors.
Which takes me to question - Is it worth to make money from downloads?
Is it worth to "piss off" all "leechers" by "forcing" them to comply uploader's rules?
IS IT WORTH making upset half of the community just to be satisfied with the income?
IS IT WORTH the fall of this community?

Please don't understand me bad, I really appreciate all the work of ALL teams and members INCLUDING Strong Sound. I'm very grateful, because in the last year my composions are way better than before when I thought the only way how to make music is to record it live.

I thing the fairest option here is donations for uploaders as I've expressed it in one of the Strong Sound's threads.

Feel free to say how strongly you disagree with me. It's no problem. You're free to have your own opinion. wink
Thank you for helping us help you help us all.

The lady (Strong Sound) who is selling these releases is making a pretty penny from this & is obviously being backed by Saint to do so. This is wrong.

I wouldn't be too worried when it comes to Strong Sound. He/she is very close to being done. You can't step on this many toes on the scene and not get retaliated against. Either someone (a rival uploader losing money) will start constantly reporting his/her links and screwing with his/her "business model", or someone will report him/her altogether and there will be a bust. People on the warez scene have a way of equaling out the score when someone gets too greedy, grubby, and generally acts like a total shithead.

Hey, the "Say Thanks" module pretty much says it all.... close to 1000 views of this thread and ONLY 19 thanks (as of the time I'm writing this). Doesn't sound like people are very thankful to me, regardless of how much cheerleaders like Phloopy spout off about 'contributor rights' rofl Strong Sound will disappear over the next few months -- too many people getting pissed off with him/her/it. It's already in motion.
